A 91-year-old pedestrian has died following a collision with a truck in Rutherglen. The incident occurred at approximately 11:25 on Tuesday on Ballochmill Road, and the man was pronounced dead in hospital the following day after sustaining serious injuries.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the injured pedestrian to hospital, where he remained until his death on Wednesday. The circumstances surrounding the collision are still under investigation by Police Scotland.
This incident adds to a pattern of serious vehicle collisions affecting pedestrians across Scotland. In June 2026, a 68-year-old woman died after being struck by an HGV in Glasgow, and more recently in September, a 69-year-old man died in a single-vehicle crash in Dundee.
