Buckingham Palace announced on Wednesday that King Charles III and Queen Camilla will undertake a Caribbean tour during the autumn months, travelling to multiple nations across the region.
The eight-day expedition, scheduled from 27 October to 4 November, will see the royal couple visit Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, and Guyana. The primary purpose of the journey centres on the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting, though the itinerary extends beyond this diplomatic engagement to encompass broader regional visits.
According to the palace statement, the tour aims to
celebrate the communities, cultures and nature within the Commonwealth family.
This journey represents the King's first return to the Caribbean region since 2021, when he travelled to Barbados in his capacity as Prince of Wales to witness the nation formally transition to a republic and remove Queen Elizabeth II as head of state. During that visit, he delivered remarks acknowledging
the appalling atrocity of slaverythat the Caribbean island endured historically.
The King's prior connections to the region span several decades. He visited Antigua and Barbuda in 2017 following the severe damage inflicted by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. His diplomatic engagements in the region extend further back, with official visits to Guyana in 2000 and the Bahamas in 1973.
The upcoming Caribbean tour follows a series of recent royal travels. Earlier this year, the King and Queen undertook a state visit to the United States in late April 2026, marking their first such visit to America since 2007. This was succeeded by a visit to Bermuda in May 2026, which constituted the King's inaugural journey to a British overseas territory in his capacity as monarch. During the Bermuda visit, the King launched a UK Space Agency initiative focused on tracking space debris.
