The gunfire caused significant damage to the living room, with the shot penetrating a window, walls and ceiling. A suspect dressed entirely in black with his hood raised to conceal his face was observed fleeing the scene in the direction of Gardiner Place.

This incident is part of a concerning pattern of armed violence affecting residential properties across Northern Ireland. A masked gunman previously fired multiple shots at a house in Breton Court, Lisburn, causing similar property damage, while another shooting in west Belfast resulted in a man being hospitalised with a severe leg injury.

Police appeal for information

Police Service of Northern Ireland Detective Sergeant Stevenson urged the public to come forward with any information.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the Boyd Street area at the time and noticed anything suspicious, or who may have dash-cam or doorbell footage that could help with our enquiries, to get in touch."
Investigators are particularly interested in any visual evidence from security cameras or vehicle recording devices that may have captured the suspect or the incident itself.
