Harry and Meghan to Stay at Royal Residence During UK Visit

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have accepted an invitation to stay at a royal residence with their two children during their upcoming visit to the United Kingdom next month.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their son Archie, aged seven, and daughter Lilibet, aged five, will be guests of the King at a royal estate. This will mark their first family trip to Britain in four years.

The specific royal residence where the family will stay has not been disclosed to the public.

The family is expected to remain in the UK for several days and will also use private accommodation during their visit.

Purpose of the Visit and Previous Stays

Prince Harry's visit to the UK is primarily to initiate the year-long countdown to the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for injured military personnel scheduled to take place in Birmingham next July.

During the trip, he is also anticipated to visit various UK-based charities that he has continued to support since relocating to California.

In past visits, Prince Harry has declined offers to stay at Buckingham Palace, citing concerns about the high-profile nature and visibility of the building.

Security and Legal Matters

Last year, Prince Harry lost a legal case seeking police protection during his visits to the UK.

Following the ruling, in an interview with , Prince Harry expressed his hope for a "reconciliation" with the Royal Family. He also voiced concerns about the safety of bringing his wife and children back to the UK.

"I can't see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point and the things they're going to miss is, well, everything," Prince Harry said. "You know I love my country, I always have done despite what some people in the country have done."

The exact security arrangements for the upcoming trip have not been publicly disclosed. It is understood that Buckingham Palace has not offered any additional security provisions.

Any further security measures will be determined by the Home Office.

Family Interactions

The last occasion the King saw his grandchildren in person was during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

In September of the previous year, Prince Harry met with his father for tea at Clarence House. This was their first face-to-face meeting since February 2024.

Neither Buckingham Palace nor representatives of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have commented on the possibility of the King meeting with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren during this visit, describing such matters as private family affairs.
