Police Release Bodycam Footage on 25th Anniversary of Murder
Australian police have released bodycam footage capturing one of the final efforts to obtain information from Bradley Murdoch regarding the whereabouts of Peter Falconio's body. This release coincides with the 25th anniversary of Falconio's murder.
Details of the Crime
Peter Falconio, originally from Huddersfield, was fatally shot on a remote section of highway near Barrow Creek in the Northern Territory in July 2001. At the time, he was travelling across Australia with his girlfriend, Joanne Lees.
During the incident, Lees was abducted by Murdoch but managed to escape after hiding in the outback scrub for several hours. She eventually flagged down two men driving a truck, which led to her rescue.
Police Questioning Captured on Video
The bodycam footage, recorded in June 2025, shows a police officer addressing Murdoch with an emotional appeal:
"I need you to have a think about if Peter Falconio was your son Quinton, and somebody knew something about where his body was"
Murdoch was serving a life sentence for the murder of the 28-year-old Falconio at the time of the questioning. He passed away the following month.
