Two men have been charged in connection with a security incident at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire last month, with one facing allegations of assisting a foreign intelligence service.

The charges follow an incident on 27 September, when police responded to reports of three suspicious vehicles near the US airbase in the early hours of the morning. Authorities declared a major incident and evacuated dozens of homes from the surrounding area as a precautionary measure.

This development comes after seven men were initially arrested in connection with a terror investigation at RAF Fairford in the days following the incident. Those individuals were subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries. The latest charges represent the first prosecutions to emerge from the investigation into the base security breach.
