Two men have been arrested and charged following the recovery of cocaine valued at up to £579,000 during police operations in Glasgow.
Officers from Police Scotland conducted searches at two residential addresses on Friday evening: one on Garry Street in Mount Florida and another on Grovepark Gardens in Cowcaddens. The operations began at 18:10 and resulted in the seizure of the substantial drug haul.
The two suspects, aged 19 and 25, have been charged in connection with the recovery. Both men are scheduled to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday to face charges.
This operation reflects an ongoing pattern of significant drug seizures across Scotland and the wider UK. In June 2026, five men pleaded guilty to involvement in a £4m cocaine and money laundering operation that had been uncovered in Glasgow, where police discovered a drug laboratory and seized large quantities of cash and cocaine during extensive raids. More recently, in August 2026, four men were charged after police discovered more than 1,600 cannabis plants worth at least £1.3m in Hawick, Scottish Borders.
Police response
Detective Sergeant John Rhoddan commented on the significance of the seizure, stating:
This recovery highlights our commitment to tackling dangerous and illegal drugs in our local communities. The statement underscores law enforcement's focus on disrupting drug supply networks operating within residential areas.
