A major search operation has been launched following the disappearance of a passenger from a cruise ship that arrived in Dundee on Friday. The MS Ambition docked in the Scottish city after the alarm was raised onboard at approximately 08:35, roughly 36 nautical miles from Arbroath, when crew discovered a man was missing and feared to have fallen into the sea.
Investigators found that the passenger's luggage remained in his cabin and his bed showed no signs of use. A witness onboard reported that tannoy announcements had repeatedly called out a specific passenger's name during the morning hours before the discovery was made public.
The vessel had completed a two-week voyage visiting Shetland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands before returning to Dundee. Those aboard were initially prevented from leaving the ship but were eventually permitted to disembark at approximately 11:30 following the passenger's disappearance.
