Firefighters worked through the night to contain a significant fire at a scrap yard in Glasgow's Scotstoun area.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received the initial alert at approximately 23:23 on Friday regarding the incident at a business premises on South Street. The scale of the emergency prompted a substantial response, with nine fire appliances, two high reach appliances and specialist equipment deployed to the scene.

Smoke from the blaze created hazardous conditions across the surrounding neighbourhood. As a protective measure, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service instructed residents in nearby properties to seal their windows and doors to prevent smoke infiltration into their homes.

The incident generated a considerable volume of calls to emergency services. Authorities issued a public advisory urging people to stay away from the affected area to allow emergency personnel to work without obstruction and to prevent members of the public from being exposed to the hazardous conditions created by the fire.
