Police are seeking witnesses after two officers were attacked by a large group of football supporters during an arrest at Stirling railway station on Sunday evening.
The assault occurred early on Sunday as officers attempted to detain a man who had been verbally abusive to other officers aboard a train arriving from Perth. The supporters involved in the incident were travelling to Edinburgh following Hibernian's match against St Johnstone in Perth earlier that day.
According to British Transport Police (BTP), the officers were surrounded and assaulted by the group as they moved to make the arrest. After the attack, the supporters departed the station and boarded a connecting train bound for Edinburgh Park railway station.
The incident is part of a broader pattern of disorder at football-related events in Scotland. Police investigating violence in Glasgow city centre on 16 May following Celtic's title win released images of supporters they wished to interview, with two officers seriously injured and three people requiring hospital treatment in that incident. A third appeal for CCTV footage from disorder in Glasgow's Trongate area brought the total number of Celtic supporters police wanted to interview to 83. More recently, five people were arrested following disorder at an Edinburgh derby between Hearts and Hibernian, including a 15-year-old and two men charged after a pitch invasion.

A BTP spokesperson stated:
Detectives believe that there were many people on the station platform that may have seen the incident, and are urging them to come forward, external to support the investigation.
Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the assault or has information about those involved to contact British Transport Police with details of what they saw.
