Man named after fatal two-car crash on North Uist road

Thomas Sharpe, 43, died after a two-vehicle collision on the A867 in North Uist on 30 September. A second man was also hospitalised. Police are continuing their investigation and appealing for witnesses.

Police have identified a 43-year-old man who died following a collision involving two vehicles on the A867 in North Uist on Wednesday 30 September.

The incident occurred at approximately 21:00 near Loch A'Bhruid and involved a black Mercedes A Class and a black Kia Ceed. Thomas Sharpe was transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

A second man, aged 36, was also taken to hospital in Benbecula following the crash. His condition was not disclosed by authorities.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay of Police Scotland said:

"Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Thomas at this very difficult time."

The force confirmed that inquiries into the circumstances of the collision remain active. Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the incident to come forward and contact them.

The A867 is a key route on the Isle of North Uist, and the crash prompted a significant emergency response involving ambulance services and hospital care across the Outer Hebrides and mainland Scotland.
