The incident occurred at a property in the Princes Drive area of Newtownabbey. Police said the attackers forced their way into the house by smashing both the front door and a window.
The injured man sustained wounds to his leg, head and back as a result of the assault. Two women who were present in the property at the time were not physically harmed, though both were significantly distressed by the experience.
