A 27-year-old man has entered a not guilty plea to attempted murder charges at Belfast Magistrates' Court in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred in north Belfast on 23 August 2024.
Conneth Paul Johnston, of Forthriver Park in Belfast, appeared in court as the charges were formally presented to him. In addition to the attempted murder allegation, he has also denied charges of aggravated burglary with intent to cause serious bodily harm and assault on police.
Following the hearing, Johnston was remanded into custody pending further proceedings. His case is scheduled to proceed to trial on 8 March 2027.
The charges relate to a broader pattern of serious violent incidents in the Belfast area. A previous knife attack in north Belfast in June 2026 left a man in his 40s seriously injured, highlighting the ongoing concern over stabbing offences in the region.
