A 16-year-old girl has died following a collision involving a pedestrian and a car near Highgate School in north London on 18 July 2026.
Metropolitan Police officers attended North Road, Highgate, at approximately 08:15 BST after receiving reports of the incident. The girl was confirmed dead at the scene, which was located close to the private school's main campus. A 68-year-old man who was driving the vehicle remained at the location and was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
The girl's family have been notified of her death and are receiving support from police officers. Emergency services including the London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade and London Air Ambulance all responded to the incident.
