A fatal three-vehicle crash in Lisburn has claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman. Karen Stewart, from Portadown in County Armagh, was pronounced dead in hospital following injuries sustained in the collision that occurred on the Moira Road.
The incident took place at approximately 11:06 BST on Saturday and involved a Ford Kuga, a Citroen C5, and a BMW at the junction of Crewe Park Road. Emergency services including police, the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene.
Hospital treatment for other casualties
Five people in total were transported to hospital for medical treatment following the crash. Among those injured was a child, though details of their condition have not been disclosed. Ms Stewart's condition deteriorated while receiving hospital care, and she subsequently succumbed to her injuries.
Investigation underway
Police Detective Inspector Stewart is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities are working to establish the exact sequence of events that led to the three-vehicle impact at the Crewe Park Road junction.
