A collision involving a vehicle and pedestrians in Doncaster on Sunday resulted in two fatalities and four serious injuries. The incident occurred on White Rose Way, situated between Carriage Drive and Middle Bank Roundabout, at 11:00 BST.
According to South Yorkshire Police, a black Mitsubishi L200 struck a group of pedestrians before colliding with a black Audi and a silver BMW travelling in the opposite direction. Two pedestrians were pronounced dead at the scene, while four others sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment.
Investigation and arrest
The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 30-year-old man, was taken into custody and faced allegations including two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving while unfit. He was subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.
A representative from South Yorkshire Police indicated that officers were continuing efforts to locate and notify the next of kin of the deceased individuals. The force has appealed for witnesses to come forward with information about the collision.
