The police are currently treating a fire that occurred at a large derelict building in Londonderry as an act of arson.

Firefighters dedicated three hours to extinguishing the blaze at the former North West Regional College facility located on Carrakeel Drive in Maydown on Sunday evening.

The firefighting operation involved crews from Northland Road and Crescent Link in Derry, as well as a team from Dungiven.

They utilized two jets to bring the fire under control before fully extinguishing it.

Police Appeal for Information

Authorities have issued an appeal to the public, requesting that anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area on Sunday evening, or anyone possessing CCTV or other footage that could aid the investigation, come forward.
