Man Charged in Woman’s Murder Found Dead in Prison Cell

Man Charged with Woman's Murder Found Dead in Prison

Ali Sohrabi, who had been charged with the murder of Masumeh Manojan, was found dead in his prison cell in County Galway, Republic of Ireland.

The 35-year-old's body was discovered on Thursday morning, according to Irish broadcaster RTÉ.

Sohrabi had been remanded in custody following charges related to the murder of Masumeh Manojan, a woman in her 30s originally from Iran.

Manojan's body was found last month on the outskirts of Clifden, near an International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) centre, which houses individuals seeking asylum in Ireland.

Official Statement and Investigation

The Irish Prison Service issued a statement confirming the death of a person in custody at Castlerea Prison on 25 June.

"All deaths in custody are investigated by the Irish Prison Service, the Inspector of Prisons and An Garda Síochána (Irish police), where circumstances warrant."
