Body Discovered After Fire at Co Offaly Home Linked to Fatal 2025 Arson

A body was found in a fire at the same Co Offaly home where a fatal arson attack in 2025 claimed the lives of a boy and his great-aunt. Gardaí are investigating all circumstances and a post-mortem will determine the cause of death.

Body Found at Site of Previous Fatal Arson

A body has been discovered following a fire at the same County Offaly residence where a young boy and his great-aunt lost their lives in an arson attack in December 2025.

Gardaí confirmed the finding, stating:

"The body of an adult person has been discovered inside the premises" at Castleview Park in Edenderry.

This incident took place at the same house where four-year-old Tadhg Farrell and his great-aunt Mary Holt were killed in December of the previous year.

Ongoing Investigation and Forensic Examination

Gardaí remain present at the scene and are investigating "all the circumstances" surrounding the fire.

The area has been preserved for forensic examination to assist in determining the cause and details of the incident.

Regarding the investigation, Gardaí stated:

"A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death, which will determine the course of any Garda investigation."

Background on Previous Incident

Following the arson attack in 2025, the young boy's grandmother also required hospital treatment due to serious burn injuries sustained during the event.
