ScotRail has apologised after the chaotic launch of its new booking app left hundreds of passengers unable to book train tickets. The operator replaced its existing system, provided by Trainline, with an updated ticketing platform for travellers on Thursday morning.

Complaints on ScotRail’s social media channels reported a series of problems, including passengers being forced to reset account passwords and journeys not appearing in booking searches. ScotRail said it was working to resolve the issues and told passengers they should continue using the old app until midday.

What has ScotRail said about the problems?

ScotRail said it was trying to fix the issues as quickly as possible and apologised for the disruption caused to passengers switching to the new app.

How were passengers affected?

Passengers were unable to book tickets through the new platform, with some encountering password reset problems and missing journeys in search results. ScotRail advised people to continue using the old app until midday while the technical issues were addressed.
