Celtic and Rangers will not be permitted to bring away supporters to their Scottish Premiership and Premier Sports Cup encounters during the 2026-27 season, following an agreement between the two clubs and the Scottish Professional Football League.
The decision represents a "temporary arrangement" negotiated in the aftermath of significant crowd disorder that marred last season's Scottish Cup quarter-final at Ibrox. That match saw both sets of supporters involved in unrest and pitch incursions, prompting an independent review by the Scottish Football Association into the circumstances surrounding the fixture.
The first meeting under this arrangement will take place when Rangers host Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup on 13 September, with the league fixture between the rivals scheduled for Celtic Park a week later on 20 September.
This development follows months of uncertainty over away allocations for Old Firm derbies. Earlier in the summer, the SPFL had recommended a 5% away ticket allocation for Rangers ahead of a May fixture, though no mandate was issued to Celtic amid ongoing safety concerns. Subsequently, Rangers confirmed a 300-ticket allocation for Celtic for their League Cup quarter-final, citing heightened safety concerns following disorder at their previous meeting on 8 March.
The complete removal of away support represents an escalation from those earlier partial restrictions and reflects the severity of the incidents that prompted the Scottish FA's review.
