Police are investigating a vehicle that struck a residential property in a Glasgow suburb, with detectives examining potential connections to an ongoing inquiry into organised crime across central Scotland.

The incident took place at a house on Low Borland Way in Eaglesham, East Renfrewshire, after officers received reports at approximately 13:20 on Friday, 21 August 2026. According to local reporting, the vehicle struck the property and subsequently drove away before police cordoned off the area. A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that

there are no reports of any injuries. Officers attended and inquiries are ongoing.

The crash occurred at the end of a quiet residential cul-de-sac containing detached homes. The impact caused substantial damage to the brick wall of the property near the front entrance, with scorch marks visible on the upper floor. The house remained protected by temporary fencing on the following day as the investigation continued.

What is the possible connection to Operation Portaledge?

Police Scotland is treating a potential link to Operation Portaledge as one line of enquiry, according to available reports. This is the force's investigation into organised crime activity across Glasgow and Edinburgh that has been running since March 2025, following a series of assaults, shootings and arson incidents.

The crash came amid reports of renewed violence in Glasgow this week. According to media outlets, the Lyons crime family allegedly ordered attacks on rival members of the Daniel clan, suggesting a possible resurgence of tensions between the groups.

What is the history of the gang feud?

The underlying conflict originated in Edinburgh in March 2025 and escalated into a series of fire-raisings and attempted murders spanning six months, with 84 separate violent incidents recorded in total. The feud has been linked to a dispute between Ross McGill, the former head of Rangers FC's fan group the Union Bears, and convicted Edinburgh drug dealer Mark Richardson, who is currently imprisoned.

In July 2026, Police Scotland announced that the six-month gang feud had concluded following dozens of arrests and what the force described as a

resolution of differences
between the rival groups. However, a resurgence of violence occurred in January and February 2026, leading to further arrests.

Several individuals prosecuted under Operation Portaledge have received substantial custodial sentences. Arran Reid was imprisoned for eight years and four months after admitting to carrying out a machete attack on an Edinburgh businessman with links to Richardson. Four other men were jailed or detained for a combined total of 25 years in connection with a series of fire-raising attacks in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Police Scotland Chief Constable Jo Farrell previously characterised the situation as

a deeply concerning war between rivals
that had eventually come to an end for multiple reasons.

What happens next?

Police enquiries into the Low Borland Way crash remain ongoing. No arrests have been announced, and no court proceedings have been scheduled in connection with the incident at this stage. Investigators continue to gather evidence and pursue lines of inquiry as the investigation develops.
