An investigation is underway after officers were injured when eggs and bricks were thrown at them by a crowd gathered outside a house in Glasgow. Police were called to reports of a group protesting outside a house on Priesthill Road at around 18:55 on Sunday. Officers attended and removed the occupants of the house.
What happened at Priesthill Road?
The crowd, some with their faces covered, refused to disperse and became hostile to officers. Three officers were injured and three police vehicles were damaged, resulting in one being taken out of service.
What has police said about the disorder?
Local Area Commander, Ch Insp William Campbell said:
"The disorder seen last night is unacceptable, and I would like to reassure the local community that our investigation is continuing to identify those responsible and take the appropriate action.
"I am aware of online misinformation being circulated last night and I would urge the public to behave responsibly around social media, particularly with information being shared and the response to what is read or seen online."
He said they are reviewing videos of the incident to identify those responsible and asked for anyone with footage to contact Police Scotland, external.
