The Scottish Ambulance Service deployed a significant emergency response to the incident, dispatching three ambulances, two special operations response teams, a paramedic response unit and an air ambulance carrying a critical care team. One casualty was airlifted to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, while the other two injured individuals were transported to Borders General Hospital.

This incident follows a pattern of serious road traffic collisions across Scotland in recent months. In June, a 26-year-old man was airlifted after a crash on the A714 near Wigtown, and three people were seriously injured in a motorbike collision on the A87 in the Highlands. Such incidents continue to place demands on Scotland's emergency services and highlight ongoing road safety concerns.
