Three individuals have been taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder following two distinct stabbing incidents that occurred in Newry and Lurgan on Sunday.
In the first incident, officers responded to an address in the Woodhill area of Newry shortly after 06:00 BST, where they discovered a man suffering from stab injuries inside the property. A man and woman, both in their 30s, were subsequently arrested in connection with this attack.
The second stabbing took place in the afternoon at a residence on Grattan Street in Lurgan. A man in his 40s sustained a stab wound to his back and was taken to hospital, where he remains in serious condition. Armed response officers attended the scene, and a 34-year-old man was apprehended a short distance from the property.
These incidents form part of a pattern of serious violence in Northern Ireland. A stabbing on Fitzroy Avenue in south Belfast in August left a man with multiple puncture wounds, while three men were arrested following an assault at Eithne House in north Belfast in July. Another serious stabbing occurred on Kinnaird Avenue in June, highlighting the ongoing challenge of violent crime across the region.
