Authorities in Staffordshire have opened an investigation following the unexplained death of a child discovered in woodland on Saturday morning.
Emergency responders were dispatched to land adjacent to Strawberry Lane in Cheslyn Hay after receiving reports of a child in cardiac arrest at approximately 08:45 BST on Saturday. An air ambulance attended the location, though paramedics pronounced the child deceased shortly after arrival, according to a statement from Staffordshire Police.
The force has refrained from disclosing the child's age or other identifying information at this stage. The death remains classified as unexplained pending the outcome of ongoing inquiries.
This incident follows a series of tragic child deaths across the United Kingdom in recent months. In July, a five-year-old child died after being found unresponsive in water in Badsey, Worcestershire, while in June, police discovered a body during a search for a 15-year-old who went missing while swimming at Testwood Lakes in Hampshire. Most recently, a four-year-old boy died following a collision between a car and an off-road motorcycle in Newark.

Local roads surrounding the discovery site remained closed throughout Saturday as police conducted their investigation. Officers maintained a presence at the location into the evening hours as inquiries continued.
