Authorities have located a body while searching for a 15-year-old boy who went missing after swimming in a lake.

Testwood Lakes nature reserve, situated near Totton, Hampshire, was evacuated as police marine units initiated the search on Wednesday afternoon.

The boy's family has been informed, and formal identification has been completed. A file is being prepared for the coroner.

The incident occurred on a day when the UK's hottest June temperature on record was provisionally surpassed in Gosport, Hampshire, with the mercury reaching 36.1°C.

Police, including marine teams, have conducted extensive searches across the 150-acre nature reserve.

The National Police Air Service, South Central Ambulance Service, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire Service were also deployed to the scene.

In a statement, Testwood Lakes expressed its concern about the incident:

"We are extremely concerned to hear of this serious incident."

The reserve, owned by Southern Water and managed by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, remains closed, with the public urged to avoid the area.
