Incident Overview
A man believed to be carrying a crossbow was shot by police in south Wales.
Gwent Police reported that officers were called to an address on St Edward Street, Newport, at approximately 23:55 on Friday following reports of threatening behaviour. The man was seen with a weapon thought to be a crossbow.

The individual, a 21-year-old man from Newport, was shot by police and subsequently taken to hospital. He remains in stable condition.

Deputy Chief Constable Nicholas McLain described the event as an "isolated incident" and confirmed that police are not seeking any other suspects.
"While reports of offences involving firearms and weapons are rare in Gwent, we take all reports of this nature seriously and respond to them in a professional and proportionate manner based on the level of risk posed by the available information," he said.
