Murder Investigation Launched After Fatal Assault
A murder investigation has been initiated following the "violent and shocking" death of a man in Ashton-under-Lyne.
Greater Manchester Police responded to reports of an assault at a bar located on Bow Street at approximately 2:40 BST.
The victim, a man believed to be in his early 30s, was found with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody for questioning. Police have indicated that they consider the incident to be an isolated attack.

"This is was a violent and shocking attack that tragically took the life of a young man," said Detective Superintendent Ian McNabb.
Detectives are working swiftly to determine the full circumstances surrounding the death.
While formal identification of the victim has not yet occurred, the family of the individual believed to be the victim have been informed and are receiving support from officers.
"We currently have a man in our custody and a scene is still in place at this time."
"We would also like to reassure the community we believe this to be an isolated attack and poses no wider threat to the public."
Authorities are in the early stages of the investigation and have issued an appeal for information.
