A mother has pleaded guilty to the deaths of her three children at their home in Bristol. Yasmeen Ali, 44, admitted three counts of manslaughter at Bristol Crown Court. She is scheduled to be sentenced at a later date.
According to BBC News, the bodies of Fares Bash, aged seven, Joury Bash, aged three, and Mohammed Bash, aged nine months, were found on Blaise Walk in Sea Mills, Bristol, on 18 February 2024.
An inquest previously heard that all three children died from knife wounds, with injuries sustained to their chests and necks. Fares Bash also displayed possible indicators of asphyxia.
Following the discovery of the children's bodies, Avon and Somerset Police detained Ali under the Mental Health Act after she underwent assessment by medical professionals at the scene. She received treatment for her own injuries at Southmead Hospital before being discharged, and is currently residing in a secure psychiatric facility.
Alfil Bash, the children's father, previously expressed his profound grief over the loss of his three children, stating he "could not get his head around what had happened".
What happens next?
Ali will return to court for sentencing, where the judge will determine her punishment following her guilty pleas to the three manslaughter charges.
