Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the collision and are seeking information from anyone who witnessed the incident. Investigators are particularly interested in hearing from people who may have captured footage of the collision or the events leading up to it, as such evidence could prove crucial to understanding what occurred.

This incident adds to a series of serious road traffic collisions across Northern Ireland in recent months. A woman in her 50s died after being struck by a car on Drumrane Road in Limavady, County Londonderry, on 17 August 2026, while a man in his 20s was killed in a four-vehicle collision in Newry on 20 October 2026, with two others hospitalised with serious injuries.
