GP Found Dead at Home Named as Dr Hannah Terry

Dr Hannah Terry, also known as Hannah Cain, a general practitioner at Grimston Medical Centre in Norfolk, was discovered dead at her residence on Sunday. The 40-year-old was found at a property in Fern Hill, Dersingham, following a call to emergency services in the early hours of the morning. Norfolk Police attended the scene just after 02:20 BST after being alerted by the ambulance service.

A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and has remained in police custody since. During a hearing at Great Yarmouth Magistrates' Court on Monday, officers secured an additional 32 hours to continue their questioning of the suspect.

According to reports from the incident, Terry was a mother of three and had been hosting a children's sleepover at the time of her death. She also worked at Norfolk Sky Aesthetics, a cosmetic treatment company, in addition to her role as a GP.

Although Terry has not yet been officially identified by police through formal procedures, she is listed as a member of the practice team at Grimston Medical Centre. The medical practice issued a statement on its website announcing it was "temporarily closed due to extremely difficult circumstances affecting our practice team." According to local reports, the closure affected both the dispensary and the main practice operations.

A cordon remained in place outside the house on Fern Hill throughout the investigation. A Home Office post-mortem examination was scheduled to take place on Monday, 5 October, though the findings from that examination have not yet been made public.

Investigation Update

Detective Inspector Alix Wright of the Norfolk and Suffolk major investigation team appealed for information on Sunday.

"We are in the very early stages of this investigation, working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the woman's death. I'd ask anyone who believes they may have information that could help our investigation to please with us."
