A former football club chief executive has entered guilty pleas to offences connected with the drugging and sexual abuse of a woman by her husband and other men.
Karl Lindsay, 56, who stepped down from his position at non-league Taunton Town Football Club in Somerset before facing charges, admitted to the offences, which took place between 2015 and 2025. According to BBC News, proceedings at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court revealed that Lindsay's conduct involved the rape of the woman by her husband and others, as well as administering substances intended to incapacitate her for sexual purposes.
The victim attended court with a family member and observed Lindsay closely as he entered his guilty pleas. The woman's husband, in his 60s, has already admitted 62 offences against his wife, including rape, following proceedings that began earlier in the year.
Who else has been charged in the case?
Three additional men have previously admitted to sexually abusing the woman at earlier court hearings. Sean Peers, 38, from Stockport, pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the drugged woman. Keith Fotheringham, 59, from Dundee, Scotland, and Graham Brougham, 74, from Northwich, have also entered guilty pleas to sexual abuse charges.
What was the timeline of offences?
The offences spanned a decade, occurring between 2015 and 2025. The case involved multiple co-accused men, with trial proceedings initially scheduled for September at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court. The guilty pleas entered by Lindsay and the other defendants have now resolved their individual cases without proceeding to trial.
