EastEnders actor Shane Richie has been disqualified from driving for six months following a speeding conviction. The 62-year-old, whose real name is Shane Roche, received the ban on 23 September after admitting the offence at Guildford Magistrates' Court.
In addition to the driving disqualification, Richie was fined £500. According to reports of the case, the £320 in additional costs comprised £120 in court costs and a £200 victim surcharge. Magistrate Sheila Hewitt oversaw the proceedings.
Richie, best known for his role as Alfie Moon in the BBC soap since 2002, entered a guilty plea in writing and his case was handled privately through the Single Justice Procedure. According to reports on the conviction, the speeding offence brought Richie to 12 penalty points on his driving record, which triggered an automatic disqualification.
Separate drink-driving allegation
The speeding ban comes as Richie faces a separate legal matter. He is awaiting trial on an alleged drink-driving offence that occurred in Harrow, Essex on 29 July. The incident allegedly took place at a petrol station on Church Langley Way, where Richie was driving a Hyundai IX35.
According to the allegation, Richie provided a breath sample reading of 65 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35 micrograms. The actor, from Tadworth in Surrey, appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court in September regarding this charge and has denied the allegation.

Richie's trial on the drink-driving charge is scheduled for 17 November 2027 at Colchester Magistrates' Court.
