A 31-year-old driver has pleaded guilty to causing the death of one passenger and serious injury to two others when his Mercedes vehicle overturned and crashed on a major motorway near Heathrow Airport in west London.
Aadil Sabir was scheduled to stand trial at the Old Bailey on Tuesday over the fatal collision. Instead, on Thursday he entered guilty pleas to causing the death of William Bailey by dangerous driving and to causing serious injury to Azfur Khan and Hamad Zaman. The crash occurred at junction three of the M4 in Hayes on 29 October 2023.
Sabir, who is from Pentre Gardens in Grangetown, Cardiff, appeared by video link from Wales to enter his pleas before the court.

Judge Simon Mayo indicated that Sabir faces a substantial prison term. The judge warned him of a "lengthy custodial sentence" and ordered that a pre-sentence report be prepared. William Bailey, a rear passenger in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other men, also in their 20s, were transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. A fourth occupant was treated at the scene for minor injuries before being taken to hospital for further assessment.
The crash caused significant disruption to traffic approaching Heathrow Airport. Following the incident, the Metropolitan Police appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage from motorists who had been in the area at the time.
