Incident Overview
A car and a police van were engulfed in flames on a Glasgow street following an altercation involving several men armed with weapons.
The incident occurred on Muirshiel Crescent, Priesthill, at approximately 19:15 on Sunday. A 19-year-old man was transported to hospital after the event.
Scene Description
Video footage shared on social media depicted around eight men running around three vehicles. One of the vehicles had collided with the pavement and subsequently caught fire.
Police Response
Police Scotland deployed specialist firearms officers to the location. The police force reported that one of its vans also "inadvertently caught alight" as flames spread from the burning car.
Arrests and Investigation
A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident but was later released without charge.
Official Statement
"This disturbance took place within a busy residential area, and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
We'd particularly like to hear from anyone with private CCTV, mobile phone or dash cam footage which could be of significance to the investigation."
Detective Inspector Gordon Walker made the above statement regarding the ongoing investigation.
Ongoing Measures
Police Scotland indicated that additional officers would be deployed in the area to "provide reassurance" to the community. Investigations into the incident are continuing.
