A 58-year-old pedestrian has died following a collision with a heavy goods vehicle in Aberdeen on Friday. The man was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services attended the incident, and his family have been informed of his death.
According to BBC News, police received reports of the collision at approximately 10:10 on Friday morning. Officers from Police Scotland attended the scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
Sergeant Chris Bain from the North East Road Policing Department appealed for information from members of the public who may have witnessed the collision or captured footage on dashcam equipment.
I'm appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage to contact police as it may assist in our inquiries.
The Scottish Ambulance Service deployed multiple resources to the scene, including a special operations response team, a paramedic response unit, and an ambulance crew to provide emergency medical assistance.
The incident resulted in significant disruption to traffic in the area. Police Scotland closed several roads including Wellington Road roundabout, Victoria Bridge, and South Esplanade East to allow emergency services to work at the scene and conduct their investigation. All affected roads have since been reopened to traffic.
This incident follows a pattern of serious road collisions in Scotland. A 41-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a taxi on the A92 near Aberdeen in April 2026, while a 68-year-old woman was fatally struck by an HGV in Glasgow in June 2026. Police continue to investigate the Aberdeen incident and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
