A 41-year-old man has been killed in a single-vehicle collision on a major road in Perth and Kinross. The crash occurred on the A824 between Auchterarder and Aberuthven, close to Damside, when emergency services arrived at the scene on Friday at 14:20.
The driver, who was operating a Land Rover Freelander, was pronounced dead at the location. The road remained sealed off until 23:30 to allow police investigators to examine the wreckage and gather evidence about what led to the incident.
Sergeant Brian McEwen of Police Scotland confirmed that officers are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision. He appealed to members of the public who may have witnessed the crash or have other relevant information to come forward and speak with the force.
This incident is part of a concerning pattern of fatal road collisions across Scotland in recent months. In July, a 63-year-old man died in a four-vehicle crash on the A82 near Glen Gloy in the Highlands, with a second fatality confirmed days later when the Range Rover driver's passenger succumbed to injuries sustained in that same collision. In August, a 51-year-old man died following a two-car collision near Dornock in Dumfries and Galloway, highlighting the ongoing risks on Scotland's road network.
