24-year-old named after fatal Grangemouth car crash

Police have identified a pedestrian who died following a collision with a vehicle in Grangemouth last week. Sean McGinley, aged 24, was struck by a Ford Fiesta on Newlands Road and was confirmed dead at the location at 23:15 on Monday.

Officers had been conducting enquiries to establish the victim's identity following the incident. The 35-year-old male operating the vehicle was transported to hospital as a precautionary measure and subsequently arrested, though he was released pending further investigation.

Sergeant Michael Shillington of Police Scotland outlined the ongoing investigation, stating that officers are particularly interested in locating witnesses who attended the scene before emergency personnel arrived.

The sergeant highlighted that investigators are especially keen to identify two individuals believed to have stopped behind the Fiesta immediately after the collision and engaged in conversation with the driver.

Police Scotland is appealing to anyone present in the vicinity of Newlands Road at the time of the incident to provide information.
