21-year-old dies after city centre assault in Glasgow

A 21-year-old man died after being seriously injured in an assault at Royal Exchange Square in Glasgow on Sunday morning. Another man, 21, suffered minor injuries. Two men have been arrested in connection with the disturbance, though no arrests have been made regarding the death.

A 21-year-old man has died following a violent assault in Glasgow's city centre, with a second man sustaining injuries during the same incident. Emergency services attended Royal Exchange Square at approximately 03:05 on Sunday after reports of a disturbance.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries sustained during the assault but died on Monday. A second man, also aged 21, received minor injuries in the same disturbance.

Two arrests have been made in connection with the incident. A 19-year-old man was apprehended in relation to the disturbance but was subsequently released pending further investigation. A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the assault on the second victim and is scheduled to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a future date.

However, no arrests have yet been made regarding the death itself. Detective Inspector Jonny MacKinnon stated:

No-one has been arrested in connection with the death of the man at this time and extensive inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Police Scotland is appealing for information from the public. Anyone with knowledge of the incident has been urged to come forward to assist the ongoing investigation.
