An 18-year-old has been arrested following an alleged knife crime incident at a chip shop in Cardiff city centre.
The incident occurred at approximately 05:00 BST on 20 September at The Chippy, located on St Mary Street. According to South Wales Police, a man entered the premises, climbed over the counter, and appeared to reach for a knife. Staff members at the shop responded by disarming the individual and removing him from the building. No injuries were reported during the confrontation, and emergency services were contacted only after the suspect had departed the area.
The suspect was subsequently apprehended and taken into police custody, where he remained at the time of the force's statement.

Detective Chief Inspector Christine Edmunds from South Wales Police highlighted the broader context of blade-related offences across the United Kingdom.
Levels of knife offences in the UK have risen over the last few years, and south Wales is no different to anywhere else in that respect.
Despite this national trend, the South Wales Police force noted that the region continues to maintain relatively lower rates of such incidents compared to many other areas of the country.
Thankfully, levels of those offences remain lower here than many other parts of the UK, and, generally, south Wales is a safe place to live, to work, and to be.
