A 17-year-old girl has died at the Kendal Calling festival in the early hours of the morning, police have said. The teenager suffered a medical episode at about 02:15 BST and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cumbria Police said it was looking into the circumstances and wanted to speak to anyone who was in the area of the Calling Out tent and the Big Wheel around the time of the girl's death. Tens of thousands of people attend Kendal Calling every year.
Who do police want to speak to?
Police said they were particularly keen to hear from a group of women who alerted first responders to the girl after becoming concerned for her welfare. A spokesperson for the force said:

The girl's family had been informed and were being supported by specialist officers, police said.
How has the festival responded?
A Kendal Calling spokesperson said the festival team was supporting authorities with their investigation. They said the girl was attended to immediately once she became unwell, and that on-site security and medical teams responded straight away.

Paramedics and medical personnel provided emergency care at the scene and did everything they could to help.
The spokesperson added the team was deeply saddened by the teenager's death and extended its deepest sympathy to her loved ones.
