A teenager died after suffering a cardiac arrest at a music festival, an inquest opening has heard. Lucy Ellen Halpin, 18, died on 11 July after going to the Tonnau festival near Llanfaethlu on Anglesey.
Opening the inquest, coroner Kate Robertson said she had reason to suspect the cause of death was unnatural. A post mortem examination was being carried out, but the cause of death had not been confirmed.
What happened at the festival?
Emergency services were called to the Carreglwyd estate, Llanfaethlu at 01:45 BST on 11 July following reports of a medical emergency. Halpin, from Bangor, Gwynedd, was taken to hospital, where she later died at 03:18.
At the time, organisers of Tonnau festival confirmed that the festival had been cancelled to enable the authorities to carry out their inquiries.
What did the coroner say?
Opening and adjourning the inquest on Tuesday, the coroner said she extended her deepest sympathies to Lucy's family. The inquest remains open while inquiries continue and the post mortem examination is completed.
How has Lucy Halpin been remembered?
Lucy Halpin was described by those who knew her as caring, funny, clever and always smiling. In a tribute on its Facebook page, Breeze Hill Bar, Eatery and Hotel, where Lucy worked, said she was exceptionally valued by staff and customers.
Lucy wasn't just staff, Lucy was a member of our extended family and was treasured by us, our customers and her colleagues, many of whom became her close friends.

Her friends said she lit up every room she walked into and put a smile on everyone's face without fail.
In a tribute accompanying a fundraiser for Lucy's family to help with funeral and other costs, they said she would be carried in all our lives with love and deeply missed.
