Erling Haaland to Debut as Voice Actor in Animated Viking Film
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is set to make his feature acting debut by lending his voice to an animated Viking character named Haaland in the film Viqueens. The Norwegian international will portray an animated version of himself in this project directed and co-written by Harald Zwart, known for directing The Karate Kid and Agent Cody Banks.
About the Film Viqueens
The film's IMDb synopsis outlines the storyline: "To return a stowaway, two courageous Viking girls go from Norway to China. Discovering secrets, becoming proficient with dragon kites, fireworks and kung fu, and realising that friendship’s gifts surpass anything taken from adversaries." This adventurous plot centers on themes of friendship and discovery.
Director's Perspective on Haaland's Role
Director Harald Zwart commented on Haaland's involvement in the film:
"Erling has already become a kind of real-life Viking icon around the world – powerful, fearless and uniquely Norwegian. Bringing him into this universe as himself gives the film an unexpected energy and authenticity that felt completely right for this story."
Additional Cast and Roles
Alongside Haaland, the film features musician Rita Ora and actress Ella Purnell from Yellowjackets as the leads, portraying characters named Hedvig and Ingrid. Additionally, chat show host Alan Carr will appear in a smaller role as "a lyrically challenged royal scribe."
