Prince William Honors Princess Diana on Mother's Day
Prince William has paid tribute to his late mother, Princess Diana, by sharing a previously unseen photograph of the two together to mark Mother's Day.
The image, sourced from the family's private collection, captures Diana with a two-year-old William in 1984, seated in a field abundant with wildflowers at the family's primary residence, Highgrove, Gloucestershire.
In an Instagram post, William wrote:
"Remembering my mother, today and every day. Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother's Day. W"
Princess Diana, who tragically died at age 36 following a car accident in 1997, would have celebrated her 65th birthday on July 1 this year.
At the time of her passing, her sons Prince William and Prince Harry were 15 and 12 years old, respectively. Both have openly discussed the profound and traumatic impact of losing their mother at a young age.
Royal Family Shares Mother's Day Messages
The Royal Family's official X account also posted a Mother's Day message accompanied by a selection of photographs.
The caption stated:
"Wishing Mothers everywhere, and those who might be missing their Mums today, a restful Mothering Sunday"
Among the images shared was a black and white photograph from 1953 showing the late Queen sitting on a bench with the King and his sister Anne, now the Princess Royal, at Balmoral, Scotland. The Queen's corgi, Sue, is visible in the background.
Notably absent from the photo are the King's younger brothers, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Prince Edward, now the Duke of Edinburgh, who had not yet been born at that time.
Additional images included a black and white photo of the late Queen Elizabeth II with the Queen Mother, as well as a picture of Camilla with her late mother Rosalind Shand.
