War of the Worlds Sweeps Razzie Awards
Last year's film War of the Worlds – featuring Ice Cube as a man who must save humanity from an alien invasion without leaving his desk – has dominated the 2025 Razzie Awards, which recognize the worst films of the year.
As Hollywood prepares to celebrate the best films at the Oscars on Sunday, the Prime Video production received five unwanted awards: worst picture, worst actor, worst director, worst screenplay, and worst remake.
The Razzies described the film as having become "a cult hate-watch classic almost immediately."
"Utterly destroying HG Wells' classic novel, director Rich Lee... chose a goofy gimmick, hack dialogue, and a particularly hilarious performance by its lead, Ice Cube, to seize 2025's biggest number of statues."
Other Notable Winners
Rebel Wilson was awarded worst actress for "her not-quite-believable performance as an action hero in Bride Hard with weaponised curling irons."
Scarlet Rose Stallone, daughter of veteran actor Sylvester Stallone, received the worst supporting actress award for her role in the Western film Gunslingers.
The seven computer-generated dwarfs from Disney's 2025 remake of Snow White shared the worst supporting actor award as well as the worst screen combo accolade.
Razzie Redeemer Award
In a more positive note, Kate Hudson was honored with the "Razzie redeemer award," which recognizes individuals who have improved after previously being frequent Razzie nominees.
Hudson has been nominated for three Razzies in the past for Music, Mother's Day, and My Best Friend's Girl. However, she is now receiving more favorable recognition, including an Oscar nomination this year for Song Sung Blue.
