Leading Emmy Nominations Announced
Noah Wyle has received nominations for acting, directing, and co-producing the US medical drama The Pitt, which, along with the comedy Hacks, leads this year's Emmy Awards nominations. The Pitt has garnered a total of 25 nominations, closely followed by the final season of Hacks with 24 nods.
British actors nominated include Matthew Rhys, who is uniquely nominated in two lead acting categories for Widow's Bay and The Beast In Me. Other British nominees are Riz Ahmed for Bait, Gary Oldman for Slow Horses, and Rufus Sewell for The Diplomat.
Notably, the final seasons of popular series Stranger Things and Euphoria were not included in the best drama shortlist for the 78th Emmy Awards. Stranger Things received seven nominations exclusively in technical categories, while Zendaya is the sole cast member from Euphoria nominated in the main acting categories.
Matthew Rhys is nominated for best leading actor in a comedy for Widow's Bay, and best leading actor in a limited series for The Beast In Me.
Another recently concluded series, The Bear, secured a nomination for best comedy, although its lead Jeremy Allen White was not nominated despite winning Emmys for best lead comedy actor in 2024 and 2025.
The Emmy winners will be announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles on 14 September.
