Alan Cumming Donates Traitors US Outfit to V&A Dundee
Scottish film and television star Alan Cumming has donated his outfit from season four of The Traitors US to the V&A Dundee. This donation is part of the design museum's initiative to collect items that evoke connections to Scotland.
The museum is encouraging the public to contribute objects that tell the story of Scottish design, which will be showcased when the Scottish Design Galleries reopen in 2028.
Cumming's donation is the first item received by the museum. It includes an ensemble featuring a tartan chest plate and a matching kilt, accompanied by a coordinating outfit designed for his dog, Lala.
The outfit was created by Scottish designer Siobhan Mackenzie in collaboration with costume designer Sam Spector.

Scottish Design Galleries to Reopen in 2028
Originally from Perthshire, Cumming has hosted the US version of The Traitors since 2023.
"I love this Siobhan Mackenzie look so much because it's got all these things I love about Scotland in it: tradition, daring, romanticism, camp and theatricality all rolled into one."
"V&A Dundee, to me, stands for Scottish excellence in design and the arts.
I think what we're really good at in Scotland is staying in touch with our tradition but also looking to the future and being progressive in terms of what we see as our Scottishness in the now.
It's lovely to be part of a celebration of Scottish excellence and also, of course, my dog Lala's outfit being in the galleries too is just the icing on the cake."

Public Invited to Submit Items for Scottish Design Galleries
The museum is inviting individuals to submit any items they believe have a story linked to Scotland. These can range from small family keepsakes and souvenirs to furniture, bicycles, CDs, or clothing.
Donations for the display will be accepted until the end of August.
About V&A Dundee
The Dundee location was the first V&A museum to open outside London. The £80.1 million facility opened in September 2018 and will mark its 10th anniversary when the new Scottish Design Galleries are unveiled.
Last year, the UK government announced a £2.6 million external investment towards the development of the new galleries.
