M8 crash near Edinburgh causes hour-long traffic delays

A crash near Hermiston Gait on the M8 has caused nine miles of queues with delays up to an hour. Traffic is backed up to junction three at Livingston and junction 1B on the M9.

Drivers are experiencing significant congestion on a major motorway west of Edinburgh following a collision that has created extensive queuing.

The crash occurred in the vicinity of the Hermiston Gait eastbound exit at junction one, resulting in a nine-mile backup and travel delays reaching approximately one hour for affected motorists.

The disruption has extended traffic congestion back to junction three at Livingston on the M8, as well as to junction 1B on the M9. Additional delays have been reported affecting traffic on the M90 as well.

Emergency services attended the scene to manage the incident and clear the roadway. Police Scotland was contacted regarding the collision.
