Port Vale Strengthen Attacking Lineup Ahead of New Season

Port Vale have enhanced their offensive options for the upcoming season by securing the signings of winger Onel Hernandez, striker Mo Faal from Wrexham, and forward Oliver Lynch from Luton Town.

Hernandez, aged 33, previously joined Vale on a short-term contract from February until the conclusion of last season and has now committed to a one-year deal to return to the club.

The Cuban winger, who featured in 11 matches during his initial spell at Port Vale, boasts Premier League experience with Norwich City during the 2019-20 campaign. His career also includes periods at Middlesbrough, Birmingham City, and Charlton Athletic.

Similarly, Mo Faal has rejoined Vale Park on a season-long loan from Wrexham, having spent the first half of the previous season at Port Vale, where he netted three goals in 23 appearances.

The 23-year-old forward transferred to Wrexham from West Bromwich Albion in August 2024 and has scored three goals in 16 appearances for the Red Dragons. During his tenure with West Bromwich Albion, Faal was loaned out to League Two sides Doncaster Rovers and Walsall.

Oliver Lynch, 21, also joins Port Vale for the 2026-27 season. He has yet to make an appearance in the English Football League, having spent the last two seasons competing in non-league football.

Lynch played for Hemel Hempstead in the National League South during the latter half of the 2024-25 season, scoring 11 goals in 18 matches. He then progressed to Tamworth last season, where he finished as the club's top scorer with 12 goals.

Port Vale scored 36 goals in 46 league matches last season, the lowest tally in League One and the second lowest across the English Football League. The club finished 22nd, 10 points adrift of safety, resulting in relegation back to League Two.

The signings of Hernandez, Faal, and Lynch bring the total number of new arrivals at Port Vale this summer to eight.

This trio joins defender Jasper Moon, goalkeepers Jackson Smith and Mason Terry, and midfielders Matthew Craig and Kyle Dempsey in manager Jon Brady's squad for the forthcoming campaign.
